Review: Kat Von D Everlasting Love Liquid Lipstick- Jeffree

Everlasting Love Liquid Lipstick is one of the brand-spanking-new-to-the-brand products launched for spring 2012.  Of the six shades offered, I chose Jeffree A. because it didn't look like anything else I have B. its namesake, Jeffree Star, is a devastatingly fabulous creature.
If you're not familiar with who he is: Jeffree is a makeup artist, musician, and model. Truthfully I'm not a fan of his music, but I'd let him do my makeup any day!

Jeffree is a matte bright coral. In the tube, it looks like a tame color that my grandmom would love, but on the lips- wow! It is opaque, and really lives up to its title of "long lasting."  I put the formula through the following tests:

  • The swatch on my arm was rubbed (hard!) and scratched at. It did not flake or budge!
  • I drank two glasses of water. It didn't transfer on the glass, nor did any come off.
  • I smooched the back of my hand. Still on.
  • I ate delicious, but greasy, Indian food. I also blotted the lunch off my mouth (I'm a messy eater haha). STILL DID NOT BUDGE!!!
The formula offers no additional moisture to your lips.  I put this on lips that were already in need of balm, and it was not a good look! With that said, it didn't dry my lips out more.  It surprisingly applied smoothly and evenly, it just sort of emphasized how dry my lips were (as most matte lipstick would).

As texture goes, the formula is a true liquid--very thin, almost watery. The first two times I had put the wand back in the tube,  some product tried to escape from it.  Considering the backlash that happened with the High Voltage mascara, which had the same problem and was ultimately discontinued, I foresee the same thing happening with Everlasting Love l/s. Hopefully I'm wrong!!

The packaging itself is just skinny plastic tube that houses 0.18 fl oz of product.  Inside there is a doefoot applicator wand. I really like how you can see the product through the tube-- it makes it easier to find in a sea of lipsticks or the black interiors of my bags!

When I read about the launch of the Everlasting Love liquid lipsticks, I immediately thought they would be a re-packaged version of Sephora's cream lipstains with a bigger price tag.  Hear me now: THEY'RE NOTHING ALIKE! Despite the leakage that happened, I would still recommend these. The formula is fantastic, and I personally can't wait to buy more colors.

Don't take my word for it, all six shades of Everlasting Love liquid lipstick are available now for $18 at Sephora.

  1. Looks great swatched! I've got my eye on Lolita & Berlin once they come to the store.

You said it was a little drying - have you tried OCC Lip Tars? I'm just wondering how they compare as I find the Lip Tars to be very drying as well

Hi Ladies, I just bought Berlin and oh so pretty! I love it.
The lipstick gos on real slick and wet but dries matte and a little dry, so I bought sugar lip treatment chap stick to go over it and it works perfectly!
